Killepitsch – A real D\u00fcsseldorfer specialty<\/h3>\n

Everyone knows Killepitsch but very few people know that the liqueur factory Peter Busch GmbH & Co. KG is behind the popular herbal liqueur. Spirits have been produced by the Busch Family since 1858. The Busch couple moves their business to Hohestra\u00dfe 50. The shop is very conveniently located. It is only a short hop to the much-visited Graf-Adolf-Platz. The Roaring 20s<\/span><\/h3>\n

Necessity is the mother of invention<\/span><\/h3>\n

With Hans Busch, the third generation takes over the well-known specialty shop on Hohestrasse. Even in difficult times they are there for their customers: When the shop was completely destroyed by bombs in 1943, they set up makeshift facilities in Hohestra\u00dfe 51 across the way and, as far as the alcohol rationing of the time allowed, produced the coveted “Schab\u00e4uke” spirits.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=”” padding_bottom=”15″][vc_column width=”1\/12″][vc_single_image image=”983″ img_size=”124″ qode_css_animation=””][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”7\/12″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Phoenix from the Ashes<\/span><\/h3>\n

After the end of the war and the currency reform, Hans Busch and his brother Willi begin to rebuild the popular specialty shop in the parent company at Hohestra\u00dfe 50, which is successful within a very short time. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=”” padding_bottom=”15″][vc_column width=”1\/12″][vc_single_image image=”984″ img_size=”124″ qode_css_animation=””][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”7\/12″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

1950s – Flavored<\/span><\/h3>\n

In 1950, the Busch brothers opened a modern winery and liqueur factory at Bastionstra\u00dfe 9. At the same time, they set up another shop in the “Haus zum Helm” on Flingerstrasse 1.
\nIn 1955, the wine and liqueur bar “Et Kab\u00fcffke” opened its doors at Flingerstra\u00dfe 1. 1980 – Today – Nothing ventured, nothing gained<\/span><\/h3>\n

1984 – Hans Peter Busch takes the company into the wide world and opens the shop and bar in the Delikatessa, the delicatessen market in Carsch Haus.
\n1995 – Hans Peter Busch takes over the management of the family business.
\n2005 – After the production facility in the old town had become too small, Hans Peter Busch built the modern factory for Killepitsch at Holzstra\u00dfe 4 in D\u00fcsseldorf’s Medienhafen.
\n2018 – Katharina Busch joins management and continues the family tradition in the fifth generation. Once upon a time …<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” padding_bottom=”0″ z_index=”” padding_top=”10″][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]… during the second World War two old friends, Hans M\u00fcller Schl\u00f6sser, the unforgettable creator of “Schneider Wibbel”, and Willi Busch, the old master of Carnival customs were huddled in an air raid shelter, as they so often were whilst the bombs rained down outside. “I say,” said Willi, “if this goes on, they will kill us too!”<\/p>\n

“But not as long as the two of us still have something left to drink,” said Hans. “We can\u00b4t drink what we haven\u00b4t got,” replied Willi. “How can you say that? You brew your own, don\u00b4t you?” retorted Hans. “I can\u00b4t,” said Willi, “We\u00b4re not allowed to. But I\u2019ll tell you one thing, Hans. If we get through this without getting killed, I\u00b4ll brew some\u00adthing for you, a real lip-smacker. That will be some drink. And I\u2019ll tell you what, we will call it ‘Killepitsch’.”<\/p>\n

And so ‘Killepitsch’ was born, but it hadn\u00b4t become a specialty until 1955, when the small, well-stored Et Kab\u00fcffke bar opened on Flinger\u00adstra\u00dfe 1 in the heart of the old town.<\/p>\n

I bet you\u00b4ve forgotten all about it!” he taunted him. “No,” said Willi. “I hadn\u00b4t forgotten-it\u00b4s been ready for ages-Cheers!” “Mmm, it smells delicious, like a garden of herbs, strong, full and not too bitter. It must be good for digestion, too-it slips down a treat!”<\/p>\n

This has been the reaction of many people trying ‘Killepitsch’ ever since.
